When Do You Need an Air Quality Test?
If you can’t see pollution and you can’t smell it, how will you ever know when it’s become a problem?
Things like carbon monoxide are odorless, colorless, and deadly, so you need to be prepared for the possibility that you might have these fumes in your business or in your home.
Are there things that might indicate that you need an air quality test besides a significant health event?
Here are some general guidelines that you may want to consider today.
How are you feeling?
It might sound silly, but some of the best indicators that you need an air quality test are usually physical symptoms that you can’t seem to explain or get rid of.

When you’re having troubles with your respiratory system – sneezing, coughing, congestion – without a fever, you might be suffering from allergies because of the particulates that are in your air.
More severe problems like wheezing, headaches, and fatigues are also common in areas that need help with their air quality. If you aren’t able to get rid of symptoms like this, or notice that you feel better when you’re outside of the offending area, you might want to get your air checked.
Look to your plants
You also want to observe the health of your houseplants to see if they’re suffering. If they don’t seem to respond to normal care or are suddenly becoming yellowed, you might want to consider getting an air quality tests.
Because plants rely on the carbon dioxide levels in the air to grow, any harmful pollutants that are getting in the way of their CO2 consumption can cause stilted growth and yellowing leaves. Of course, if you’re not taking care of your plants, that may also be the cause.
What are you doing?
If you’re dealing with harmful chemicals or other activities that involve machinery, you may want to have an air quality test on a regular basis.
Because you’re probably dealing with minute particulates, you need to call in someone who can find them more easily than you might be able to. The risk is just too high in these situations, so it’s better to be safe than to be sorry.
