Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Over the last decade, people across the world have been introduced to a new phenomenon called global warming, or greenhouse gas emissions. Global warming is the overall accelerated warming that has been scientifically documented throughout the world.
At the current rate of warming, the earth’s temperatures are predicted to raise an average of 2.5 to 10.5 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century, potentially causing many climate, environmental, and economic changes.
The current global warming trend is attributed to the increased greenhouse gas emissions – carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorcarbons and perfluorocarbons – that have increased dramatically since the industrial revolution.
Because of industrial growth, the burning of fossil fuels, and deforestation, these gases are being released into the air, causing a “greenhouse effect”, or trapping of heat within the Earth’s atmosphere, and thereby causing temperatures to rise.
Control of Greenhouse Gas Emissions
With the signing of the Kyoto Protocol in Canada in 2005, many countries have committed to regulating the level of greenhouse gases emitted annually and significantly reducing the current levels.

Although the United States has not yet set mandatory limits on greenhouse gas emissions, there is a movement that is gaining momentum to begin doing so.
Many cities and municipalities have already committed to, and are starting, to enforce mandatory greenhouse gas emissions, even if the federal government has yet to do so.
Voluntary Emissions Control
Companies who voluntarily take steps to measure, control, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions may be eligible to participate in emission trading programs which can potentially increase cash flow, while also providing support to their community by actively reducing the gases that cause global warming.
Greenhouse gases should be part of the emission inventory, an accounting of all of the air pollutants discharged by a factory or location into the atmosphere, of every company.
Experts in Greenhouse Gas Emissions
If you are interested in the measurement and control of greenhouse gas emissions, call Steve at Emission Control Specialists.
Steve is an expert in emission testing and emission control, and has access to the latest testing technology. He can provide testing as well as assist with developing a plan to begin reducing the levels of greenhouse gas emissions, which may provide you with the ability to trade those reductions on the emission trading market.
Both on a local and global level, reducing greenhouse gas emissions is one of the biggest challenges facing all of us today. Do your part by reducing the emissions of these gases from your company.
